Connacht Pick Up First Point
Saturday 10th December 2011. Heineken Cup
Connacht 10-14 Gloucester. The Sportsgrounds.
Connacht narrowly missed out on their 1st win in the Heineken Cup on a wet Saturday in Galway, however they did manage to earn their first point of the campaign via a losing bonus point.
After Gloucester had built up a an 11 point lead, Connacht captain, Gavin Duffy set things up for the Province before the break when he linked up with Ray Ofisa before running down the pitch to score right at the post.
Early in the 2nd half Niall O’Connor narrowed the gap to just 1 point with a penalty. Both teams battled hard to find more scores but Connacht hopes were dashed when Gloucester were awarded a late penalty and Freddie Burns made no mistake from close range to seal the away victory by 4 points.
