Dull Draw In Lansdowne
Friday 2nd September 2011. Euro 2012 Qualifier.
Republic of Ireland 0-0 Slovakia.
Republic of Ireland and Slovakia shared the points in a dull and dreary encounter at Lansdowne Road on Friday. Simon Cox weak effort late in the second half was pretty much the only shot on target while Robbie Keane could have sealed all 3 points but for his wayward header missing the goals.
For Ireland, Sean St Ledger was a rock in defence while Slovakias Martin Skertal ran the show at the other end.
With few chances from either side, the game remained scoreless in 90 minutes. 3 minutes of additional time failed to produce much and, to be honest, both sides could still be there for an additional 3 days without scoring.
