Blues Cruise To Victory

Friday 12th August 2011. Airtricity League Division 1.
Waterford United 5-1 Athlone Town. Waterford RSC.

Well what can you say about that!

The first game of the season a depleted and inexperienced Athlone Town team travelled to the RCS and stunned everyone by earning a very credible 0-0 draw.

Friday however, an almost full strenght Athlone Town team made the same journey to the South East … but this time had their backsides handed to them on a plate!

While Athlone were poor, its not to take away from Waterford who at times looked like a well oiled machine with Kevin Murray sweeping up at the back, barely breaking a sweat but still getting to every ball.

Athlone just wern’t at the races and at times looked slugish as if it was the start of preseason all over again.

There isnt much more that can be said as the scoreline says it all!
