Willow Give CK A Cup KO

Sunday 8th May 2011. Paddy Cotter Cup Semi-Final
Willow Park 3-2 CK United.

Willow Park put themselves into the final of the 2011 Paddy Cotter cup with a hard fought win over CK United in a game that had goals, penalties and cards!

Willow took the lead through Ronan Frawley before Gary Devine got on the scoresheet with a shot from distance and Aidan Hyland sent a powerful drive crashing into the net.

But it wasnt all plain sailing with CK capilialising on a lapse in concentration from Willow keeper Aidan Browne as a dropped cross ended up in the net before they pulled another one back from penalty spot. Willow could have eased their burden but for a string of top saves from CKs David Gorman, which included a penalty save.

Mark Nicholson saw red for the home side but the numerical advantage ddint last with Michael Bracken recieving his marching orders for a foul on Colin Fortune. The CK man done himself no favours in the aftermatch as he squared up to punch Fortune, who was on the ground at the time and then swung his arms at Jimmy Mullally as the Willow defender tried to diffuse the situation.
