Ireland Go Top
Saturday 26th Match 2011. Euro 2012 Qualifier.
Republic of Ireland 2-1 Macedonia.
The Republic of Ireland shot to top of the Euro 2012 Group B table, abeit on goals difference, and joint top at that, after a 2-1 victory over Macedonia at Lansdowne Road.
Aiden McGeady netted his first international goal early in the first half and Robbie Keane doubled Irelands lead before Ivan Trichkovski pulled one back for the visitors.
For the little excitement of the first half the second proved to be a damp squib with the only moment of excitement coming four minutes before the end when Scottish born starlet James McCarthy finally made his competitive Irish debut to firmly nail down his allegiances to the Republic of Ireland.
On the downside though, striker Kevin Doyle picked faces lay off after a nasty knee injury while Richard Dunne will sit the next one out after picking up a booking.
technically not top Ash 😛 its decided on head to head, so GD ain’t gonna play much of a part in deciding things..
good pics!
Ahhhh … I presumed it was top on goals scored as Ireland and Russia both have +3
