Sunday 16th January 2011. O’Byrne Cup Quarter Final
Westmeath 1-09 … 0-08 DIT
Westmeath advanced to the Semi Finals of the 2011 O’Byrne cup with a 4 point victory over DIT. Although I missed the 1st half I was assured that it wasnt up to much, and I well believed it as the 2nd was nothing to write home about.
The introduction of Dessie Dolan was the difference between the 2 with the Garrycastle forward kicking 3 points from play.
But a win is a win and that makes it 2 from 2 for The Lake County in 2011

And so Westmeath now face Kildare in the Semi Finals to be played on Sunday 23rd Jan.
