Late Strike Sinks Peters

Saturday 8th January 2011. Leinster Junior Cup. Lecarrow
St Peters 2-3 (aet) O’Devany Dunard

A bitter cold evening at the RDL County Grounds in Lecarrow ended in bitter disappointment for St Peters as they bowed out of the Leinster Junior Cup, in the final seconds of extra time, at the hands of Cabra outfit O’Devaney Dunard.

Goals from Thomas Silke and Brian Caldwell brought the sides level on 2 occassions, however in the dying seconds of extra time, defender Wesley Doyle popped up to steer the ball into the net and send Dunard through to the next round.

It was a tough result for Peters who had the majority of the play in the game but they will rue the lack of chances created from all the possession.
