Rep of Ireland 1-2 Norway

A goal in the 86th minute of a lack lustre International friendly ensured Ireland finished 2010 with 3 defeats out of 4 games at the revamped Lansdowne Road stadium.

It looked llike it would be oh so different after only 5 minutes when Shane Long earned and scored a penalty … but as half time loomed Morten Gamst Pedersen stepped up to bend a fine free kick into the net. Not content with scoring the equaliser late in the first half, Pedersen turned provider in the closing stages of the second to set up Erik Huseklepp for Norways winner.

On the plus side, young guns Greg Cunningham, Darren O’Dea, Kevin Foley added to their international caps while Jonathan Walters came off the bench to make his senior debut. On the downside, Seamus Coleman was left on the bench and must wait until 2011 at the earliest for a senior cap.
