Temple Villa 1-2 Monksland United

Despite going 1 down inside the opening 5 minutes, Monksland battled hard to score a second half equaliser and then the winner to claim the CCFL Premier Division title at Villa Park. Goals from Les Browne and captain John Francis secured the win, League title and promotion to the CCFL Senior Division.

It wasnt all plain sailing though, Villa threw themselves into ever challenge with Noel Galvin and Fergal Murray the main men behind every tough tackle. Things looked hairy for Da Land when striker Conor Jordon was forced off through injury inside 10 minutes, while goalkeeper Seamie McManus sat out the 2nd half. Villas keeper can count himself unlucky for the goals, the equaliser came from a cross, he rose with Les Browne and luckily for the Monksland man the ball skimmed through the keepers hands and right on to his head. The eventual winner came from a John Francis free kick, via a rock hard surface which saw the ball hop out of the keepers reach and into the top corner.
