Airtricity League – Division 1. 10th April 2010
Athlone Town 0-0 Shelbourne

Exciting, action packed, end-to-end … none of these words can be used to describe Athlone’s scoreless Saturday evening draw with Shels at Lissywollen.
To be fair, Shelbourne looked every bit an ordinary Division 1 team and based on the performance not exactly one of the “bigger teams” in the League.
Apart from one off the bar and a goal well offside, I cant really recall any other threat of note. Equally no attack from Athlone really stands out.
Kevin Dunne however put in a very good performance in midfield which is very encouraging and Athlone will be boosted by the return of the International
young guns Robbie Benson and Tom O’Halloran.

Shels fans were less than impressed with John McLoughlins refereeing, especially after he showed red card to Colin O’Brien after a 2 footed lunge.
